It is commonly used for carving and jewelry making. Once polished it will become a very high polish.

What is it made up of?

• Calcium, magnesium, water, iron and silicate.

Colour range:

• The three main colour varities are:
• Green.
• Black.
• Premium black.

Mohs hardness scale:

• 6 to 6.5

Where is it found?

• Eyre peninsula in South Australia. It is among the largest nephrite jade deposits in the world.

 Cowell black jade meaning:

• It is associated with wealth, nobility, strength, friendship and protection.
